A luxury opener and a collector, for your best bottles only and on pre-order only...

Piece of artcraft and of Prehistory, this magnificent handle is made of an estimated 10,000 years old Mammoth Ivory. First, feel comfortable: the trade of Mammoth Ivory, or Molar, is legal. It is not part of the Washington Convention, aimed at protecting, hopefully, the Elephants from the atrocities we know. Mammoth Ivory has fossilized for thousands of years in the permafrost of Alaska and Siberia essentially and is discovered from time to time with melting ice and climate change it seems. Those fossilized Mammoth Ivory defenses have kept their umatched texture and have been more or less naturally and wonderfully colorized by absorbing minerals in the course of those thousands of years in the soil. Copper Oxides have given it thi blue / green color, while contact with iron oxides will give it red - brown colors.

In addition to that impressive handle, it is a superb efficient sommelier corkscrew. For those familiar with, Laguiole knives are those svelte and curved lines shape type knives ornamented with a mythical bee. Their name is "Laguiole" because they were first designed and produced to address the needs of the inhabitant of Laguiole, a small village in Aveyron, in France. And historically, the true Laguiole knives were made by the Master Cutleries of Thiers, the Knife capital city of France nearby Laguiole, including Claude Dozorme Master Cutlery since 1902.

The Sommelier Clos Laguiole Collection is an adaptation of those beautiful Laguiole knives into an efficient and magnificent Sommelier type corkscrews. But Master Cutlery Claude Dozorme has given those traditional & luxury sommelier corkscrews its signature and a touch of modernity: the mythical bee is forged on the side of the lever, and is actually a superb mechanism of fastening axis for the lever that you will always be able to fasten by yourself , whenever needed, thanks to the little wrench provided. It will therefore never be "loose". The same principle has been developped for the drill, which, by the way, is tapered: it will let you open your old treasures without breaking the cork. It has of course a foil cutter made of top of the range steel, with micro serrated edge.

It is delivered in a wooden gift box, with a very nice leather pocket.

Brand: Claude Dozorme

We Like: every Claude Dozorme Sommeliers come with an adjustment wrench to allow you retighten the axis by yourself, whenever needed.

We Recommend: do not wash with water or in the dishwasher: Claude Dozorme corkscrew handles are made of precious components. Water will damage them. Just use a dry tissue.
