A beautifully made corkscrew by Master Cutlery Dozorme
For those familiar with, Laguiole knives are those svelte and curved lines shape type knives ornamented with a mythical bee. Their name is "Laguiole" because they were first designed and produced to address the needs of the inhabitant of Laguiole, a small village in Aveyron, in France. And historically, the true Laguiole knives were made by the Master Cutleries of Thiers, the Knife capital city of France nearby Laguiole, including Claude Dozorme Master Cutlery since 1902.
The Sommelier Clos Laguiole Collection is an adaptation of those beautiful Laguiole knives into an efficient and magnificent Sommelier type corkscrews. But Master Cutlery Claude Dozorme has given those traditional & luxury sommelier corkscrews its signature and a touch of modernity: the mythical bee is forged on the side of the lever, and is actually a superb mechanism of fastning axis for the lever that you will always be able to fasten by yourself , whenever needed, thanks to the little wrench provided. It will therefore never be "loose". The same principle has been developped for the drill, which, by the way, is tapered: it will let you open your old treasures without breaking the cork. It has of course a foil cutter made of top of the range steel, with micro serrated edge.
The handle of this piece is made of Ram Horn. Ram Horn has those very authentic brown, black and white colors and shades variations, and an embossed design. Ram Horn was and is still used to produce the "Shofar", the world oldest wind instrument, a highly symbolic instrument to antique civilizations.
It is delivered with a very nice leather pocket.
